In all fairness though, it's not an easy thing to do these days. It seems that unless someone has hit rock bottom they just don't want to hear it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They don't want to hear that Jesus died for them. They don't want to hear that their sin debt has been paid in full. They don't want to hear that God only wants the best for them and that He has a plan and a purpose for their lives. They don't want to hear that the Creator of all things knows better than they do as to why they even exist and what He created them for. They don't want to hear it because they're doing ok. They don't need God, or so they think. They have money, education, jobs, comfort, luxury, food, housing, clothing, limited security, they have their own plans and purpose...and so on.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I certainly don't have all the answers, apart from praying that God would intervene and open their eyes so they can see they really don't have it all figured out. So they can see there is Someone out there bigger than they, who controls all things, including their futures. Someone they need to take very seriously. His name being Jesus.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Affluence is one of the greatest robbers of Spiritual hunger, there is no doubt. And, I'm not saying it's wrong to be wealthy. Some seem quite able to handle it correctly and use it wisely. But, for some reason, most of us when we have money we think we have it made. We swell with pride and think we need nothing else. We can buy our own way, thank you very much.&lt;br /&gt;As Christians we can only tell others the Good News. We can't save them. It's not our job. It is our job to tell them though.&lt;br /&gt;When the Holy Spirit guides us to speak up, that's what we're to do. When He tells us to shut up, that's what we're to do. He knows when it's best to speak, when someone is prepared and ready to hear.&lt;br /&gt;So, in a nut shell, that's what we need to do. Speak and move when the Spirit says so.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If I had all the money in the world and if I lived in absolute luxury for 150 years (which no has done yet as far as I know), what would that be in comparison to eternity? Forever and ever in perfect paradise with God Himself!&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;I'd rather lay up treasure where thieves can't break in and moths can't destroy, in heaven. What could possibly compare to being joint heirs with Jesus Christ who created everything and owns it all?&amp;nbsp; Nothing compares, nothing at all.&lt;br /&gt;The day is coming and is fast approaching when each of us will stand before God. He's not going to ask us how much money we made or how many good things we've done. He's going to ask us " What did you do with my Son Jesus?"&lt;br /&gt;So Christian, listen for the Spirit's leading and act when He says so. People's eternal destinies are depending on it, whether they know it or like it, or not...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="woj"&gt;“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="woj"&gt;  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin  do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.... What does that mean? What I believe it means is that as believers in Christ, we should not be business partners together with unbelievers. We should not be married to unbelievers. We should not be found to be drunks or living sexually immoral lives. We should not be liars or deceivers and our speech should not be filled with filth...We should be known as honest law-abiding citizens etc, etc... After all, as believers we are supposed to be ambassadors for Christ here on earth, by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are the vessels that Christ has chosen to do His work through here.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So tell me this... How do we do Christ's work if we separate ourselves so much from those around us that we have no interaction with them? It seems to me that the doctrine of separation has become very convenient for some Christians who don't like sharing their faith, or are afraid to do so.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jesus commanded us to "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel." We can't do that if we have no contact with the world. We were made for relationship. If we're not building relationships with people our words become just empty words.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He never said, " Go into all the world and build church buildings and sit in them waiting for people to come. Hold meetings and programs and be blessed amongst yourselves. Become a bunch of holier than thou's for my name's sake".&lt;br /&gt;There's nothing wrong with "church". It's a God ordained-institution, a living, breathing body of believers with Christ as the Head. But, if all we do is sit in our buildings, we've missed it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm so glad Jesus never thought that way. He could have stayed in heaven, separated Himself from us sinners, and we'd all be on our way to hell right now...&lt;br /&gt;We can't be ambassadors for Christ if we're so separated from the people around us that we have no effect on them. Unbelievers are not flocking to churches today, and sadly, most have very good reasons not to.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's time the church got off our lily white blessed assurances and started doing life in our communities. Rubbing shoulders with neighbors and making a difference in people's lives. We don't have to become drunks or sexual deviates but we do have to be out there doing life with people...loving them and giving them hope.&lt;br /&gt;I just don't see how we can effect change if we have nothing to do with the culture that surrounds us. Jesus left heaven with all its glories behind. He walked among us sinners. He did life with us and among us. He met people where they were. Like the Samaritan woman at the well. He called Zaccheus down from the tree. He called His disciples publicly. He sat down and ate with sinners. Probably heard some bad language too. It seems to me most of His ministry was done on foot, walking amongst the crowds, healing people from diseases and forgiving their sins. He didn't hide off in some corner of society like a self- righteous rabbi circling the wagons for protection. He met life head on. He made a difference. He expects the same from us.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That's what separation means to me... but that's just me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jesus' prayer to the Father for His disciples. " I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified".... He said that when God the Father sent His Son Jesus to earth for us, He was putting love over His own Holiness. He could have stood in His Holiness and said to us..."Ok, you chose to disobey me, now we're separated because of it. I'm Holy and you've now become sinners. You'll have to pay the price and spend eternity in hell, a&amp;nbsp;place that&amp;nbsp;I've&amp;nbsp;prepared for Satan and his demons.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thankfully, God the Father loved us&amp;nbsp;enough to send&amp;nbsp;Jesus His Son to pay that price in our place. What a great example of how we the "Church"&amp;nbsp;are supposed to be acting toward the world around us. I believe one of the greatest&amp;nbsp;downfalls of&amp;nbsp;the church&amp;nbsp; in the past generation&amp;nbsp;has been to&amp;nbsp;be stuck in&amp;nbsp;our own&amp;nbsp;"holiness" and we've come across to the&amp;nbsp;world around&amp;nbsp;us&amp;nbsp;as self righteous and condemning hypocrites. Pushing people away from Christ instead of drawing them to Him. I know of people who thought they couldn't go to church because they didn't have good enough clothes to wear, or just weren't good enough to go.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;John the Baptist wore a cloak of camel's hair and ate wild locusts. He probably looked like a wild man and most likely wouldn't be very welcome in a lot of churches today. &lt;br /&gt;Yet, Jesus said of John, "I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jesus said in Matthew 11: 28-29 " Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." No mention of a three piece suit anywhere or the need to attain a certain status before coming.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The only hope any of us has of attaining holiness is in Christ. We may be able to live very moral lives on the outside, but our holiness is in Him. So as God the Father presented Christ to us in Love, we must&amp;nbsp;also present Christ to the&amp;nbsp;world around us&amp;nbsp;in love. Maybe then, the world&amp;nbsp;wouldn't smell the hypocrisy a mile away when they come near us. And, maybe then we'll see the results of what God can do through us.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Gathering at Trent&amp;nbsp;gets&amp;nbsp;it. We don't stand on religious tradition. We stand on Christ and on His finished work on the Cross: His death, His burial and His resurrection ...&amp;nbsp;If we as&amp;nbsp;the "church" will&amp;nbsp;meet people where they are with the Love of Christ it will make a difference; they will accept Christ. It will produce Kingdom citizens,&amp;nbsp;the least of which will be greater than John the Baptist! 5 people will be baptised from our hub group this Sunday. God is at work! There is a new generation rising!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;May we never be a church that does this ..."These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. They worship Me in vain." Read God's word and soak it in. Its truth sees one through thick and thin. So don't despair, be sad or glum. Get off your butt, forgive someone. Christ supplies our every need, forgiving makes us free indeed. If His name you do take on. Make Him proud you've tagged along. And, if by chance some day you fall, He'll still accept you after all. So live, love, laugh and raise some stink. But thank You that You have compassion on us, and remember that we are “dust”. You understand our human frailty perfectly because You made us and know exactly what “makes us tick”. You know how easily we are affected by our environment, and how desperately we need You! And thank You that not only do You know us and understand us because You are the all-wise, all-knowing, omnipotent Creator of all, but also because You took on skin and entered the human race Yourself for a while. So You have personal experience of what it’s like to be a human being in this fallen world! Thank You so much Lord Jesus, that You can identify with us………&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When the sun shines and it’s a beautiful day, help us to rejoice and be thankful, not just for its beauty and warmth that You have created, but for You. May we be reminded that the sun is merely a pale reflection of Your infinite glory, and may we rejoice in You!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When it’s a grey and dreary day and we can’t see the sun, help us to remember that You are still there, shining as gloriously as ever, even if we can’t see You or feel You at the moment. May we thank You and rejoice that You are the same yesterday, today and forever. You never change! May we keep turning to You in repentance and trust, and bask in the light and warmth of Your love.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When the rain comes, may we be reminded of Your faithfulness, and that You always provide what we need to grow and flourish, both physically and spiritually. May we thank You for the refreshing rains of Your grace, the Living Water of Your Spirit that You pour out on us to fill us and flow through us to refresh others!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When it’s dark and stormy and scary, may we be reminded of Your infinite power and sovereignty, and that You are always in control, doing what is best according to Your infinite wisdom, unfailing love, and perfect righteousness. May we cling to You and rejoice that You are our Solid Rock and Anchor, and always strong and safe Shelter. May we rest and trust in You alone! (And when the snow in the city turns grey and gross and dirty, may we remember that we continually need your grace to keep us clean!!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When the wind is cold and bitter and winter seems to never end……or when it’s so hot and humid we think we can’t stand it a moment longer…….please forgive our complaining and help us remember that as surely as the seasons change, You will keep Your promise to return, King Jesus, and one day we and all creation will be restored to the fullness of Your original intention. Amen, come Lord Jesus!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When it’s so foggy we can barely see anything, may we give thanks that You are the Light of the world and have overcome the domain of darkness! May we take Your hand and walk by faith. May we shine as lights in the darkness for others, because You have shone Your Light in our hearts.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When it is icy, please teach us to be careful. What is sparkly and dazzling can also be deceptively dangerous, destructive and deadly, and can so easily trip us up. Help us to choose every step wisely, avoiding the “slippery slope” of sin, and walking confidently in the footsteps of our Good Shepherd, who always leads us safely in paths of righteousness.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When it is slushy and messy, or muddy and yucky, may we remember and rejoice that You were not reluctant to enter the mess of our world to rescue us!! When are Christians going to start acting like Christ? I'm not exempt, I include myself in that too. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." Matt 5:9. We are to be salt and light in the world. We are to love our enemies, and pray for those who despitefully use us. We are not to resist evil people. We are to turn the other cheek. We are to give to the needy in secret, and forgive so we can be forgiven. We are not to store up treasures on earth, but in heaven. We're not to love the world, but love God, no one can serve two masters. We are not to worry. We are to trust in God for our provision.We are to seek God and His righteousness and all we need will be given to us. We are not to judge others, for we will be judged by the same measure we give out.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Matt 7:12 says: "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you. For this sums up the Law and the Prophets."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In Romans 12-13&amp;nbsp;we're told&amp;nbsp;to be law-abiding upstanding citizens. We are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. " Love does no harm to its neighbor.Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law." Love must be sincere. We are to hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;Honor one another above ourselves. Never lack in zeal, but keep our spiritual fervor in serving the LORD. We're to be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need, and practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute us and not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another, not being proud or conceited. Live at peace with one another as much as it is&amp;nbsp;possible. Do not take revenge, let God handle it. If your enemy is hungry feed him, if thirsty give him a drink. Overcome evil with good...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That's enough for now. It's certainly not an exhaustive list. I'm already feeling&amp;nbsp;more than&amp;nbsp;convicted of my own&amp;nbsp;shortcomings. How many people do you know that measure up to this?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;Maybe if we did, people would feel welcomed in our churches. Maybe if we did, we wouldn't be threatening to burn someone else's holy book. Maybe if we did, people would take us seriously and&amp;nbsp;see that Jesus is really who He claimed to be...&lt;br /&gt;We don't live in a theocracy. I'm glad I did. I love it when God reveals a truth when we least expect it!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He was talking about the woman who was caught in the act of adultery. (John 8:3-11) He asked the question, "Why did Jesus not have her stoned for her actions? The law stated that she must be put to death&amp;nbsp;for her act of adultery. It's in our Bibles today!"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Leviticus 20 :10 says: " If a man commits adultery with another man's wife- with the wife of his neighbor-both the adulterer and adulteress must be put to death." It was the law of Moses! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I always thought as the story goes, when Jesus said,&amp;nbsp;"Let he who is without sin, let him cast the first stone",&amp;nbsp;that was the answer. We're all guilty of something, so who are we to condemn anyone?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But Jesus was guilty of nothing. Is it possible that&amp;nbsp;He did not have her stoned&amp;nbsp;as the Pharisees requested, because&amp;nbsp;He knew He&amp;nbsp;was on His way to the cross to pay for her sin?&amp;nbsp; Not only her sin, but all of our sins! In doing so He knew He would fulfill that law, taking her place and ours in His death. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;( I wonder too, and this is just pure conjecture on my part, if what He bent down to write in the sand that day could have been the sign of the cross...)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jesus said in Matthew 5:17, &amp;nbsp;"Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That's why&amp;nbsp;believers are&amp;nbsp;not&amp;nbsp;condemned by that law today. Jesus fulfilled it for all of us with His death on the cross! It doesn't really matter, the facts remain the same.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; The facts are:&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;- For those who don't know Jesus Christ as their LORD and Saviour, the only heaven they will ever experience, is the best this world has to offer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;- For those who do know Jesus Christ as their LORD and Savior, the only hell they will ever experience, is the worst this world has to offer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I don't know about you, but I'd rather experience&amp;nbsp;my hell here now, while time passes quickly. To have it later is to have it forever ...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;" .....God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. It's only been 2 days and people are going nuts with the heat. In fact the radio said yesterday here in Peterborough, it was so hot, the squirrels were collecting their nuts with oven mitts!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I hate to be the bearer of bad news and this will not be a popular blog I expect, but it's a message that needs to be heard. In fact it's a message that's been told over and over and over again yet so many people will not listen.&lt;br /&gt;There are much hotter days coming for those who do not know and love the LORD Jesus Christ,&amp;nbsp;and those days will have no end. They will be eternal.&amp;nbsp;I know it's not popular or politically correct to speak of, but the Bible speaks of it, and not in flattering terms.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hell is a place Jesus spoke of often. He did that for a reason. He doesn't want anyone to go there. It's a place that was created for satan and his angels, not man. But, all mankind who will not accept the sacrifice of Jesus's life on their behalf will have to pay their own sin debt. They will take their place among satan and his angels(demons).&lt;br /&gt;Jesus gave His life for you so you wouldn't have to go there. That's how much He wants to keep you out of there. He knows the horrors that await all who are there and will go there. But, the choice is yours. He also loves you enough to let you make your own choice. He will not force Himself on you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Bible has stood the test of time. It has been scrutinized to death. Pulled apart, trashed, burned, laughed at by many a scholarly&amp;nbsp;intellectual mind. Called out dated, old fashioned, not applicable to us anymore. After all, we're all so smart now. So enlightened by our own knowledge. Which by the way, the Bible calls&amp;nbsp; "foolishness unto the LORD".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;Many have set out to prove it wrong, but in the process have come to know the Living Christ who lives in and through its pages. Their lives have been changed completely and they have become followers of Jesus.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;People like:&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;C.S. Lewis, an Oxford professor and author of many books, including the Narnia series.&amp;nbsp;Phillip Yancey and Lee Strobel investigative journalists. Lawyer Frank Morrison who wrote the book " Who moved the stone?" set out to disprove the resurrection account of the four Gospels, ended up writing a much different book and coming to the logical conclusion after an exhausting study, that the accounts were the truth.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;Josh McDowell is another. After starting out persuing a legal career with political ambitions, he was challenged to examine the evidence in the Bible by a group of college students. He considered himself an agnostic then. He is now a Christian apologist, teacher, evangelist and&amp;nbsp;author of at least 77 books. &lt;br /&gt;I mention these people because they're not just a bunch of imbeciles who swallowed what someone told them about the Bible. They are all intellectually sound intelligent people who put their best efforts into exhausting studies to prove the Bible&amp;nbsp;accounts wrong, and&amp;nbsp;every one of them&amp;nbsp;met the Living Christ in the process.&amp;nbsp;Their lives were completely changed! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I just started reading a book I received today written by Mark Hitchcock. " The Amazing Claims of Bible Prophecy". I wanted to leave a couple quotes here from the first few pages. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"The Bible is a book of prophecy. Mark Hitchcock.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mark holds a law degree, along with a ThM and PhD degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary and serves as a senior pastor in Oklahoma and an adjunct professor at DTS. Kind of sounds like another intellectually sound intelligent person.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Not one word of the Bible has ever been disproven. And, in my humble opinion, never will be. Simply because it is the very Word of God. It is historically accurate. It is a living book. It applies to every generation, because it's HIS-STORY!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, having said all that. What does the Bible say about a place called hell? It says it's a place where the worm dies not. It says it's a place of everlasting torment. It is a place of memory; you'll remember all the times you laughed at the prospects of ending up in hell. That in itself will be torment enough. It's a place of outer darkness. The complete absence of light. It's a place of much weeping and gnashing of teeth, so you'll be able to hear the agony.&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;It's devoid of anything good. It's eternal separation from God. It's never-ending torment that has been prepared for satan and his angels. It's a place prepared for evil. You will experience tremendous unquenchable thirst. You will not be there with all your buddies partying it up. They may all be there, but there will be no partying going on. Remember you'll be in total darkness, thirsty and without drinks. There are lots of&amp;nbsp; "good" people there too. The Bible says all our good deeds are as filthy rags in God's sight. The Bible says the final destination for death, hell and the grave, will be the lake of fire. Doesn't sound like a partying atmosphere to me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I've heard it said that the best evangelists&amp;nbsp;this world would ever see are in hell today. If they could get back here to tell of the horrors they're experiencing. The sad part is, they can't, and we have an example in&amp;nbsp;Luke 16&amp;nbsp;where Jesus talks about that very thing. He said : &amp;nbsp;"If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead." The rich man in hell wanted God to send Lazaras back to warn his brothers of their impending doom. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We're the same today. We're being warned, but&amp;nbsp;we're not convinced. Better to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season we think.&amp;nbsp;How stupid are we as people anyway, who wouldn't be convinced even if someone came back from the dead to warn us?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A loving God wouldn't send anyone to a place like that you&amp;nbsp;might say. Well, He doesn't. You send yourself.&amp;nbsp;Our loving God&amp;nbsp;paid the supreme price so you wouldn't have to go. He gave His life,&amp;nbsp;the rest is up to you. He's ready and waiting to&amp;nbsp;welcome you with open arms, regardless of what you've done.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jesus said : "Here I am!&amp;nbsp;I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him , and he with me. Revelation 3:20&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Notice it's says "anyone". If you're still living and breathing that includes you!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Unfortunately this is not a popular message today. It's a message that you won't hear in many churches anymore. It's not politically correct, and it offends people. And, we can't have people offended because it affects what's put in our offering plates. That's just so sad on so many levels, but&amp;nbsp;especially because eternity and where we'll spend it, is at stake.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;".....What will a man give in exchange for his soul?"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;But, take heart there is hope! All is not lost. The hope rests in Jesus. A simple genuine heart-felt prayer asking His forgiveness. Giving your life over to Him to do as He pleases with it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is a cost to believing in Jesus though.&amp;nbsp;The cost is, your agenda&amp;nbsp;is&amp;nbsp;replaced with His agenda for your life. There must be evident change in your life to validate that this is happening. It's a life long process. It won't happen over night. But, He will change you from the inside out and take you places you never dreamed of in the process. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When Jesus met with the woman who was caught in the act of adultery, after all her accusers left, He told her&amp;nbsp;He didn't&amp;nbsp;condemn her either, but&amp;nbsp;said "go and sin no more". He expected her to change. He expects the same from us.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You will not be disappointed. Jesus created you. He knows you better than anyone else. How we answer is very important.&amp;nbsp;Am I interested in Jesus for who He is? Or, am I interested in Jesus just because of what He can do for me?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Am I building a relationship with Jesus&amp;nbsp;so I can&amp;nbsp;become more like Him? And, the more I become like Him the deeper the relationship with Him grows. The more I love Him and the more I want to spend time with Him ....Or, am I just wanting the mansion in heaven He's promised. The perfect pain free utopian paradise of heaven where there'll be no more death, no more&amp;nbsp;sorrow, no more tears, just peaceful, fulfulling, beautiful, unimaginable, blissful eternal existence...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's a question that&amp;nbsp;needs an&amp;nbsp;answer. If I'm just looking for the benefits of Jesus and not a relationship, then my motives are&amp;nbsp;purely selfish. It's these selfish motives, I believe, that would enable me to rest in my "fire insurance" faith. :&amp;nbsp;I prayed a prayer, I got baptized, halellujah one day I'm going to heaven ... bring on the beer, lets party!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;If this is the case, then I don't have the Son (Jesus). All I have is selfish motives. I admit, this was the way I thought about it for many years. I thought I was safe. It wasn't until a few years ago that the personal relationship started making sense, and became real to me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Bible says in 1 John 5:12 " He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If I&amp;nbsp;want to go to&amp;nbsp;heaven, I must have a saving faith. A saving faith is based on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We don't get to heaven because we're good people. We don't get there because we said a prayer and don't want to go&amp;nbsp;to hell. We get there because we know Jesus and He knows us, and that only comes through&amp;nbsp;a personal relationship with Him. Relationship only comes through spending time with someone. It doesn't just happen because we say a prayer and get baptized. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, this can be&amp;nbsp;the starting point. We are saved by the grace of God if our prayer is genuine, not because of anything we can do on our own. But, if we can go on living the same way as always, with no evident change in our&amp;nbsp;lives for the better&amp;nbsp;and continually have no time for God, then it's not genuine repentance. It's selfish motivation. The Bible says, you will know them by their fruits.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jesus said in Matthew 7: 21-23, &amp;nbsp;"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father, who is in heaven. 22) Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23)Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I heard John Piper speak on this awhile back. I'll be paraphrasing but&amp;nbsp;he said something to the effect of, you don't get saved by saying a prayer, then telling Jesus thank-you very much for my salvation, I'll see you in heaven some day, but I don't want to spend any time with you now. That's not saving faith...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;" Now then, my sons, listen to me; blessed are those that keep my ways. Listen to my instruction and be wise; and do not ignore it. Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For whoever finds me finds life and&amp;nbsp;receives favor from the LORD. But whoever fails to find me, harms himself; all who hate me love death.".... Proverbs 8 : 32-36&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If we're keeping His ways, watching at His door, waiting in His doorway. If we're listening and obeying on a daily basis, then we're building relationship, and that relationship will change&amp;nbsp;our hearts&amp;nbsp;to be more like His. Then&amp;nbsp;He will be able to live through us to bring about His purpose for us and those He brings into our lives.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The fact is Jesus is in heaven. That's where His throne is. That's where He sits at God the Father's right hand interceding for us.&amp;nbsp; There's no need of the sun there, because Jesus's&amp;nbsp;glory&amp;nbsp;fills heaven with light... It's a glorious place for those who love the LORD.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;" However, as it is written : No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him."..... 1 Corinthians 2 : 9&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can imagine some pretty amazing things. The Bible says heaven will be beyond anything we can imagine. But, it's for those who love Him. Not for those who just want what He can do for them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;".... for those who love Him" &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I would have to answer the question by saying&amp;nbsp;no... By far the most valuable piece of literature known to man. The very Word of God given to us in printed form. Full of wisdom and truth&amp;nbsp;and everyday life principles. Yet, I've never heard of one being stolen. It seems you can leave them laying around anywhere and they're safe.&lt;br /&gt;I've never heard of a Bible&amp;nbsp;publishing firm&amp;nbsp;being broken into and thieves making off with thousands of Bibles.&amp;nbsp;Or, I've never heard of any church having to bar their doors and windows to protect their Bibles. I&amp;nbsp;don't&amp;nbsp;expect I ever will either.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That's because our human nature being bent naturally sinful, doesn't want what's in the Bible. Human nature says, I can make my own way. I can make my own decisions. I don't need anybody telling me what I can or can't do. I don't need God. Well ... until something terrible happens in my life anyway. Then I can blame Him for it!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;God has a different perspective in Proverbs chapter 2. The whole chapter is great but I'll just write a few verses here. If you're interested you can read the rest yourself. You do remember where your Bible is don't you? It's the book that's covered in dust, you can easily&amp;nbsp;miss it :) Sadly ... I've found mine in that state too many times too...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"For the LORD gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones." Proverbs 2: 6-8&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it; but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it." &amp;nbsp;Proverbs 2: 21-22. &lt;br /&gt;These are just a couple of verses out of thousands. There's so much more that could be written about this subject, but it would be&amp;nbsp;of such length,&amp;nbsp;no one would read it anyway.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Bible says that man's wisdom is but foolishness unto the LORD in 1 Corinthians 3:19. So why do we trust in our own wisdom so much?&lt;br /&gt;We've been given a book that holds all the answers to life itself. Let's get it out, dust it off, read it and give it its rightful place in our lives.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Your&amp;nbsp;word is a lamp to my feet and a light&amp;nbsp;for my path." The one forward that takes faith to leap to Christ and all that He promises, or the one behind you that rejects Him, and all the claims He's made.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let's face it. Either Jesus is who he said He was, God in the flesh, or He was a raving mad lunatic and one of the biggest&amp;nbsp;liars and deceivers that ever lived. He&amp;nbsp;has to be&amp;nbsp;one or the other. It's as&amp;nbsp;simple as that.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I heard a&amp;nbsp;quote taken from Sheldon Vanauken's book&amp;nbsp; (A Severe Mercy) in a message&amp;nbsp;my brother in law Earl recently&amp;nbsp;delivered at his home church in Vancouver that puts this in perspective, and I thought was definitely worth repeating.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;"There's a gap between the probable and the proved, how am I to cross it? If I was to stake my life on the risen Christ, then I wanted proof. I wanted certainty. I wanted to see Him eat a bit of fish. I wanted letters of fire across the sky.&lt;br /&gt;I got none of these, and I continued to hang about on the edge of the gap. It was a question of whether I was to accept Him or reject... my God!... there was a gap behind me as well!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Perhaps the leap to acceptance was a horrifing gamble, but what of the leap to rejection? There might be no certainty that Christ was God, but, by God there was no certainty He was not! This was not to be borne. I could not reject Jesus. There was only one thing to do once I had seen the gap behind me. I turned away from it, and flung myself toward Jesus"... Sheldon Vanauken.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sheldon Vanauken and his wife Davy came to faith in Christ while studying at Oxford University in England, and not to mention, under&amp;nbsp;the intellectual scrutiny and persuasion of none other than their friend C.S Lewis. From what I can gather, these were not imbeciles who blindly swallowed what someone told them about Jesus. They took reason to its end, and then leapt the rest of the way in faith toward Christ.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sheldon Vanauken simply realized that the price of rejecting Christ was just too high to ignore. Jesus Christ offers an eternal future with all the goodness of God forever. Goodness that we can also begin to enjoy now in this life.&lt;br /&gt;Rejection of that offer brings eternal separation from all the goodness of God in everlasting torment. I'm with Sheldon Vanauken on this one. How about you?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Whoever believes in the Son(Jesus) has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." ... John 5:36&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's very important to remember as well, that a genuine accepting faith in Jesus Christ will change your life. You cannot carry on as before, resting in your "fire insurance": living the same sinful life and thinking you're safe because you've prayed a prayer or&amp;nbsp;have been baptized.&lt;br /&gt;Satan also believes that Jesus is the Savior, the Son of God that takes away the sins of the world. He knows all of that and believes it too. Yet his future is eternal damnation in hell.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If your "belief" or "faith in Jesus" has not brought real "heart" change into your life, then it's not a saving&lt;br /&gt;faith...I'm not talking about a lot of religious do's and dont's. Legalistic religious jargon about dress, drink, length of a man's hair&amp;nbsp;or whatever else we can dream up. I'm talking about real heart changing faith. A heart that&amp;nbsp;operates with&amp;nbsp;God's perspective. When we have that, our lives will change accordingly.&lt;br /&gt;If we have accepted Christ then we&amp;nbsp;are no longer our own.&amp;nbsp;We were bought with a price(Jesus's life). He calls the shots now. Not us. That's saving faith...change from the inside out, that doesn't happen overnight. It's a life long process and journey with Christ.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;" Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were brought at a price. Young people who come out not because they have to, but because they want to be there and understand the importance of what community offers. Christian community especially.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Last night a young lady&amp;nbsp;shared some of her experiences she had while&amp;nbsp;spending a month in Thailand recently. And while doing so just beamed the love of Jesus.&amp;nbsp;Another young lady is back from spending several months in Ghana. Another young lady is heading for northern Quebec to spend the next 6 weeks in a native Cree community. One of our group is in Calgary this summer, impacting for Christ on the streets there. Another at a family camp near Gibson's B.C. &lt;br /&gt;Another couple who recently married spent a month at a kids camp in Brazil this past winter. Another young man who went tree planting this summer and started a bible study&amp;nbsp;among co-workers. Another young lady from our larger church community just left for her second month long term in Haiti with YWAM. Another young man will soon be home from spending the last 8 months in Germany, Ethiopia and Turkey setting them on fire for the LORD with YWAM. (Youth with a Mission). Another young lady just left to serve in an orphanage in Cambodia for several weeks.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Story after story of young people allowing Christ to work through them. (I'm sure I've missed many) Literally being the hands and feet of Jesus. Loving others with servant hearts. Hearing stories like these cannot help but encourage, but can only do so if we're there to hear them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can't help but wonder the direction my own life would or could have taken if I'd been part of such a group when I was their age. It didn't exist for me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's true that the ember that falls away from the fire cools down pretty fast when on it's own. If you're fortunate enough to be around some campfires this summer, as I intend to be, try it and see what happens to the "lone ember." I've seen it in my own life, and countless other lives as well. Community offers support and encouragement to press on through the tough stuff.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When Christian community is broken, we become cold embers on our own and we miss out on so much. Although it's never too late, the fact is I wasted 20&amp;nbsp;years plus of my life, where very little if anything of eternal value was done. Selfish ambition being the main driving force.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Bible says in Matthew 6:19-20 "Do&amp;nbsp;not store up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal."&lt;br /&gt;King Solomon, the wisest and richest man that ever was, and ever will be according to the Bible. He would make Bill Gates and Warren Buffet look like paupers. He tried it all. He found it all vanity under the sun... useless. Matthew 16:26 asks us, "What&amp;nbsp;good will it be for&amp;nbsp;a man if he gains the whole world, yet&amp;nbsp;forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The only thing that will matter, is what we do for God's kingdom. That's all we'll be left with one day, and most of that, if not all of it,&amp;nbsp;will be done through the relationships we build while we're here, and that is done through community.&amp;nbsp;Everything else we'll leave behind.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If we&amp;nbsp;unplugged our radios, computers and&amp;nbsp;tv's&amp;nbsp;we'd find that while they&amp;nbsp;might look nice, they're not of much use beyond that. But, plug them in and they can bring a world of difference into our lives.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We're the same. Plugged in, we can make a difference. Hebrews 11:1&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Faith is not anti-intellectual, it's active confidence in God's Word. It's not escapism or pie in the sky thinking. Faith is believing the Word of God. Faith is what I hold onto while I wait for God to act.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Lord you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations" Psalm 90:1&lt;br /&gt;"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble."&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Psalm 46:1&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Titus 1:2 tells us God cannot lie.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Matthew 11: 28-30 says " Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need,&amp;nbsp;you will abound in&amp;nbsp;every good work. 2 Cor 9:8&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 John 5:4 tells us faith is the victory that overcomes the world.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;These are just a few scriptures I noted during&amp;nbsp;a study on faith by James MacDonald. Why do we Christians find it hard to believe and trust&amp;nbsp;in a God who created the universe and everything in it? Who created it without any help from any of us, and then created us!&amp;nbsp;A God who has been our dwelling place, our refuge and help in times of trouble for generations. A God who is always faithful and never disappoints. Who&amp;nbsp;promises to supply our needs. Who cannot lie. Who promises to work everything out for our good. He doesn't promise a life without trouble but just the opposite. He says we will share in His sufferings. The world will hate us as it hated Him. That in this world we will have tribulation, troubles and that offenses would come. But that He will be with us always.&lt;br /&gt;So, why are we surprised when trouble comes? He said it would. Why can't we believe Him when He says He'll see us through it?&lt;br /&gt;Maybe&amp;nbsp;it's because we like to be in control. What is it that&amp;nbsp;makes us&amp;nbsp;think we know better than Jesus? Jesus wants us to pass Him the reins of our lives and that's&amp;nbsp;the part that's hard for us to do. Maybe it's because we think we don't deserve to have things provided for us. That we think we need to work for everything we get.&amp;nbsp; Maybe it's just pride.&lt;br /&gt;It should be a no-brainer, and it&amp;nbsp;will only get easier the&amp;nbsp;more we get to know Jesus. We get to know Him by reading His Word and seeing how He's helped, provided and protected others in times of trouble. Our faith will be increased as we confess it to others, telling others&amp;nbsp;what Jesus has done for us.&amp;nbsp;Our faith will be increased by walking it out.&amp;nbsp; The Bible says all things are possible to those who believe, Mark 9 :23. The Bible also says that without faith it is impossible to please God. It sounds so simple. Why is it so hard? &lt;br /&gt;Could it be that&amp;nbsp;we simply don't believe and trust Jesus as we should? That's pretty much what it comes down to isn't it?&lt;br /&gt;We have a God who loves us so much that He gave up His only Son Jesus to die on our behalf, so that&amp;nbsp; through believing in Him we might be saved, and pass from death unto life. How can we not trust in a God that loves us more than we can ever imagine, and wants nothing but the best for us? Really, how can we not trust Him? &lt;br /&gt;Father, please forgive and help our unbelief... help us to believe your Word, and act on it no matter how we feel... For in just a very little while, " He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. I'll jot down a few things from my notes. Basically Habakkuk was having a conversation with God. He had a couple of complaints for God.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1-&amp;nbsp; Are you listening to what's going on? Why don't you answer my call for help? Why does the evil going on in Judah go unpunished?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It can seem like people are getting away with&amp;nbsp;horrible behavior&amp;nbsp;at times, even prospering because of it. God doesn't always respond the way we'd like Him to. For instance, God&amp;nbsp;would send&amp;nbsp;the evil Babylonians in to attack and judge Judah for the evil they were committing. That's when&amp;nbsp;Habakkuks'&amp;nbsp;faith and&amp;nbsp;ours as well could come upon thin ice.&lt;br /&gt;That's when we need to back up, take some time to reflect on who God really is, and the promises He's made. Then we can commit the problem to God knowing &amp;amp; trusting that He knows best.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2- God you can't look upon evil. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous? How could a just God use a ruthless&amp;nbsp;Babylon to judge Judah who was more righteous? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We learn that God does not tolerate sin. Judgement of the Babylonians will come. We learn that God works with great confidence because he told Habakkuk to write down the revelation so that a herald may run with it." For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;God is eternal. He sees the end from the beginning and everything in between.. God is in control and has a Divine mandate. He works in His own time. We wait and need to persevere. He sees the whole picture, we don't.&lt;br /&gt;Habakkuk gained confidence when he got a better understanding of who God is. God's mercy falls on those who are righteous and just. Gods' Holiness demands that He deal with sin. God does everything for His ultimate Glory and His Kingdom.&lt;br /&gt;We too need to regain a better undertanding of who God is. He is not just our best buddy. He is the infinitely Majestic Creator of the universe. He is to be Feared and Reverenced. He is Holy and Righteous. He is Perfect in every way. He is Sovereign. He is the Author and Perfecter of our faith and so much more.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;Habakkuk gains a better realization of who God really is through remembering what God did for his people Judah and it leads him to praise God. He asks God to do His work and His will. He realized that God can't be stopped and He is faithful and unchanging. He decides to fully trust God. He knows that God does not change because of circumstance.&lt;br /&gt;Habakkuk ends with saying that though he loses everything he will trust in God. " Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Saviour. I've gotten lazy the last couple weeks and the 1 pound gain is the result. I'm thankful it isn't more. I have to be diligent and keep to the routine or failure will be the result. I now know why I can get up one morning and my pants won't fit... it sneaks up a half pound a week!&lt;br /&gt;Looking for better results next week...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;" Perserverance must finish it's work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."&amp;nbsp; James 1:4&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another reminder that nothing in life comes easy. I jotted down a few notes...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why is the blood of Jesus Precious?&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;He was the Son of God. The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. He was sinless, perfect and therefore His blood can atone for sin. His blood was shed on our behalf. Jesus was God in human flesh, therefore His blood was divine. Our eternal destination depends on what we do with His blood.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The blood of Jesus speaks&amp;nbsp;to Redemption: 1 Peter 1: 18-19&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We were purchased or redeemed with the blood of Jesus Christ. Not with perisable things such as silver or gold. Jesus was our perfect and sinless substitute. He liberates us from the power of sin. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The blood of Jesus speaks to Forgiveness:&amp;nbsp; Ephesians 1: 7-8, &amp;nbsp;1 John 1:&amp;nbsp;7-9,&amp;nbsp;1 John 2:1-2&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We have initial redemption and forgiveness from sin through the blood of Jesus. Also, daily forgiveness through confession. Jesus is our advocate to God the Father. Working on our behalf.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The blood of Jesus speaks to Justification:&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Romans 5: 8-10&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;God is Holy and must punish sin. God accepts Jesus' sacrifice as payment, and we are justified through His blood. God is just in forgiving us because Jesus' blood covers our sin debt payment in full. That payment releases God from instituting His own law which says, the soul that sins shall surely die.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The blood of Jesus speaks to Reconciliation:&amp;nbsp; Colossians 1:19-22&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;God does the reconciling and always takes the first step. We respond to His callings and promptings through the Holy Spirit. Jesus' blood reconciles us to God by covering our sin with&amp;nbsp;His righteousness if we accept&amp;nbsp;His sacrifice on our behalf.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;The blood of Jesus speaks to Sanctification:&amp;nbsp; Hebrews 13:12&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The shedding of Jesus' blood makes us Holy in God's eyes if we accept His sacrifice. Sanctification is a continual growing and cleansing process in the christian's life. Through Jesus' shed blood we have forgiveness of sin through daily confession.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;The blood of Jesus gives us access to God the Father:&amp;nbsp; Hebrews 10: 19-20&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We have access to the throne of God&amp;nbsp;ONLY through the blood of Jesus. God is Holy, we need the blood of Jesus to cover us when we come before Him. To think that we can access God just on our own goodness is ultimate pride. God hates pride.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The blood of Jesus is powerful and precious. Our only hope for eternity. Thanks be to God for His most precious gift. I found it quite convicting. Some notes I took&amp;nbsp;from the series, "Lord change my attitude".... by James MacDonald.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Criticism:&amp;nbsp; To dwell upon the perceived faults of others, with no view to their good.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Criticism:&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; -&amp;nbsp;by the above definition is sinful&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; - ruins our fellowship with God&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; - ruins fellowship with others&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; - is personally destructive&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; - is painful&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; - is often inadvertent... a reflex statement&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; - plugs the flow of God's blessing in our lives&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; - life becomes a wilderness&lt;br /&gt;Up close and personal:&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; - am I a critical person?&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;- am I reaping the consequences?&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; - am I willing to repent?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Honestly, I would have to say that yes I&amp;nbsp;can have a critical spirit. It's very easy for me sometimes to find fault in others with no view to their good. One quote that stuck with me from last night was " criticism tears down what God is attempting to build up". I need to be very careful what I say about others. God&amp;nbsp;may be at&amp;nbsp;work. He sees and hears everything. He's not pleased when we're critical of others.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Bible says in Isaiah 59:2,&amp;nbsp;" But your&amp;nbsp;iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear."&lt;br /&gt;I've had some spiritual wilderness experiences. Some very dry seasons. Times when my prayers didn't seem to rise above my eyebrows. Criticism may well have been the reason.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another quote from last night, "everytime I throw dirt I lose ground". Criticism is self exalting and the Bible says: " Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil." Provs 3:7&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Am I willing to confess my critical spirit and repent? Yes,&amp;nbsp;I don't want anything to interfere with God's blessing in my life. The Bible says in 1 John 1: 9 " If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and&amp;nbsp;purify us from all unrighteousness."&lt;br /&gt;LORD, please forgive my critical spirit. Help me to remember that You may be at work in&amp;nbsp;people's lives. Then&amp;nbsp;on to Casey Key Florida for 4 nights.&amp;nbsp;Lots of beach time on a great sandy beach where seashells and shark teeth are in abundance. Truly a seashell enthusiast's dream. Then on to Key Largo via the Everglades, where there were alligators galore! Two nights in Key Largo and snokeling on the coral reef at the local state park.Then on to Cocoa Beach via Miami and Fort Lauderdale (where it was raining)&amp;nbsp; :( Two nights in Cocoa Beach where we went to the Nasa Space Center (almost froze that day) :( From Cocoa Beach to Atlanta Georgia for one night. Next day we toured the Atlanta First Baptist Church complex&amp;nbsp;where Dr Charles Stanley pastors. Definately a trip highlight for me, and an&amp;nbsp;amazing place!&lt;br /&gt;Then on to Scottsburg Indiana where we spent two very enjoyable&amp;nbsp;nights with family. The best accomodations along the trip by far! I thought it was well worth passing on... &lt;br /&gt;"that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."&amp;nbsp; Philippians 2: 10-11&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;His point being, we can humble ourselves now&amp;nbsp;and bow our knees and accept Jesus for who He is as our Savior and LORD. Or, we can reject Him now and go about life in our own way and bow our knees before Him on judgement day with Him as our Judge and not our Savior.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If we wait until judgement day it'll be too late for salvation. The time for salvation is now. The Bible says:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain. For He says,&lt;br /&gt;"In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you."&lt;br /&gt;I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation".......... 2 Corinthians 6:1-2&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The time is now to&amp;nbsp;receive Jesus as your Savior.&amp;nbsp;Don't wait too long or you'll have to accept Him as your Judge. Notice the "welcome" sign on the steps. Mine&amp;nbsp;won't be here though,&amp;nbsp;it'll be&amp;nbsp;in&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;heaven. And, I'm sure&amp;nbsp;it'll have a lot more&amp;nbsp;welcoming sign too! Man has made some very beautiful places but they won't compare to what God has prepared for His children.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"&gt;"In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; John 14: 2-3 &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"&gt;However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him"... 1 Corinthians 2 : 9&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"&gt;These places are beautiful here at the beach, but they won't last. In a few years they'll be weather beaten&amp;nbsp;and if not kept up at much expense, they'll be run down shacks eventually.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"&gt;Mansions in heaven will never deteriorate. They will last for eternity. Without end and without upkeep. They've been built by the Master Builder Himself, with Divine plans that never falter or fail. Can't wait! Not just to see my mansion... but to see the Master Builder Jesus Himself. Not much, but still going in the right direction. In my defense, we did have an 18th birthday to celebrate!.... The last two months I've dropped 13lbs. I don't say this with any animosity or hard feelings. It's just the way it is, and&amp;nbsp;it's not likely to ever&amp;nbsp;change. It serves to keep us in check and give us a dose of humility when needed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I found myself needing to apologize for some things said on facebook, and rightly so.&amp;nbsp;Things that started out in jest but got out of hand and taken the wrong way. The fact is my "Christian" testimony as far as some people are concerned may have been seriously damaged. Sometimes apologies just don't cut it. Sometimes things said can't be taken back, or made up for.&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;If I'm publicly professing Christ, then I&amp;nbsp;need to be mindful of "everything"&amp;nbsp;I&amp;nbsp;do or say, because&amp;nbsp;I'm supposed to be a representative of Jesus. What people see in me reflects on Christ, and they see and hear everything.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Facebook can be a great communication or ministry tool, if used properly.&amp;nbsp;A way to keep in touch, but it can also be something that satan can use to destroy relationships.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This lesson I should have learned years ago, yet, I seem to need reminding of it over and over. As a professing believer in Christ, I'm an ambassador for Him. I may be the only representative of Jesus some people ever see or hear. That's a huge and serious responsibility, and a scary prospect where I'm concerned as well.&amp;nbsp;I have a lot of work to do. Thankfully, God is gracious and forgiving. I'm a work in progress. That's not an excuse for me to act badly, it's just a fact.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;I read a quote on facebook awhile ago that puts it in perspective. I&amp;nbsp;don't know if I&amp;nbsp;remember it exactly, but it went something like.... " Your actions speak so loud, I can't hear what you're saying."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A couple of quotes from God's Word too...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;" ....whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable --- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy --- think about such things." So far, that makes a total of 12 lbs. I'll keep plugging away at it. It is such a controversial and indepth subject that it is absolutely mind boggling. The degree to which man has tried to disprove the Creation&amp;nbsp;story is astounding! No matter how many formulas and theories they come up with and scientific mumbo jumbo they confuse people with, they still must come to a place where in the beginning something had to be created from nothing. How does something come from nothing? Well, they don't know.&lt;br /&gt;Yet, hundreds of millions of dollars are spent and thousands of man hours used up trying to prove the impossible each year.&lt;br /&gt;My theory is that man believes he must disprove the Creation story because if he can do that, then there is no sin to be forgiven for, and no God for him to give an account to one day. If there is no God man can do whatever he likes without fear of judgement.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Bible says in Psalm 14:1, "The fool has said in his heart there is no God".Thankfully more and more scientists are seeing that what they are discovering points to an intelligent Designer, and the Creation story of the Bible is making sense to them. To those who are open and willing to see anyway. I'm talking about Geophyicists, Molecular biologists, Astronomers, Zoologists, Physics professors, Anatomists and Nuclear Physicists, not an ignoramus mechanic such as myself. I might add though, that as a mechanic I have quite often made things work with next to nothing, but have yet to create a needed part from absolutely nothing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jesus&amp;nbsp;said in Mark 10:15&amp;nbsp; " I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."&lt;br /&gt;We don't have to be theologians to have faith in a Creator God. The Bible is written so that children can understand it, and all we need is childlike faith to believe.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I won't win any Nobel prizes for my opinion and I really don't care. I believe in the Creator God who sent His Son Jesus to pay the penalty for my sin. Not because someone told me to, but&amp;nbsp;because I have personally experienced the power of His Holy Spirit. The sin nature that entered the world through Adam can be redeemed by Jesus's death and Resurrection. Again, the choice is ours to make.&lt;br /&gt;It takes much less faith for me to believe that, than evolution's theories and formulas and conjectures about things coming forth from nothing at all.... &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;" Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the&amp;nbsp;LORD his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them-the LORD, who remains faithful forever." The king sent out his servants to invite guests to come. The servants were met with all&amp;nbsp;kinds of excuses and the guests refused to&amp;nbsp;come. The king sent out more servants giving them instructions to tell the guests that he had butchered the oxen and fattened cattle. Come and feast and be filled, but they still paid no attention. One went to tend his field another his business and the rest mistreated and killed the king's servants. This angered the king greatly. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and their city.&lt;br /&gt;Then he said to his servants, the feast is ready. Those that I invited did not deserve to come. Go into the streets and byways and invite anyone you meet. Tell them to come and be filled with all the goodness of a feast of the king. So many guests came, both good and bad and the wedding hall was filled.&lt;br /&gt;When the king came in he noticed right away that one of the guests wasn't wearing a wedding garment. He asked the man how he got in without a wedding&amp;nbsp; garment but he was speechless. The king ordered him bound and thrown out into outer darkness, where there is much weeping and gnashing of teeth.&lt;br /&gt;'"For many are invited, but few are chosen."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Simply put...The parable is about God's invitation to everyone to&amp;nbsp;accept His gift of the Gospel and eternal life.&lt;br /&gt;There is a wedding feast planned in the future. The wedding of Jesus Christ and His bride the church. It's called "The Marriage Supper of the Lamb". It's a feast that God the Father wants none of us to miss, but some will as the parable states,&amp;nbsp;out of pure indifference.&lt;br /&gt;The garment that's needed to attend the feast&amp;nbsp;is simply the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Without that garment there is no entry.&lt;br /&gt;Accepting Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior of&amp;nbsp;our lives, and putting our trust fully in Him. Turning from our wrong doing and following His example, is all that's needed to enter. A simple honest and heart felt prayer such as.... Lord forgive me a sinner, please come into my heart and save me. Change me into the person you created me to be...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Will you be at "The Marriage Supper of the Lamb?" The greatest feast ever to be prepared! Or will you be cast out as the one without the wedding garment?&lt;br /&gt;The choice is yours to make. I'll be there. I&amp;nbsp;pray I'll see&amp;nbsp;you there too.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on Him, and to our God, for He will freely pardon." Isaiah 55: 6-7&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;In fact, all of Isaiah 55 describes God's invitation to us, and what's in store for all who will accept. Last week I was up 4 pounds. This week I'm down 3.5.... It's been a real roller coaster ride. I'm still up half a pound from where I was two weeks ago.&lt;br /&gt;I started this 6 weeks ago thinking the weight was just going to fall off, but I guess that was just foolhardy thinking. I'm averaging &amp;nbsp;just over a pound a week. If one is supposed to lose the weight slowly...(and&amp;nbsp;that's what I've heard)&amp;nbsp;then I'm right on track for success.&amp;nbsp;It's going to&amp;nbsp;take a year and a half to get where I want to be.&amp;nbsp;The problem I have is, I'm not a patient person so it becomes discouraging, which pretty much sums up the way I've been feeling the last few weeks. Hopefully that will change in the weeks to come&amp;nbsp;as the longevity of this exercise sets in.&lt;br /&gt;So looking on the POSITIVE... After 6 weeks I'm still down 8.5 pounds. Not where I thought I would&amp;nbsp;be, but still down from where I started. What I need to remember is. I'm not just wanting to lose weight. I'm wanting to change some lifelong poor eating and exercise habits along the way too. It's going to take time....&lt;br /&gt;On to week seven.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"But if we hope for what we do not yet&amp;nbsp;have, we wait for it patiently".... I can't seem to&amp;nbsp;bring two thoughts together. I feel like the valley of dry bones spoken of in Ezekiel 37. I'll continue to read God's Word&amp;nbsp;daily, and&amp;nbsp;trust it to bring renewed life. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Then he said to me, " Prophesy to these bones and say to them, 'Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will&amp;nbsp;attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD." Perseverance</title><content type='html'>A little more encouraging this week. Down another 2.5 pounds. I'm getting&amp;nbsp;used to the idea that this is going to take a long while. After all, it took me 20 years to put the weight on.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So.... after 4 weeks of&amp;nbsp; not eating after 7pm and 25 min a day on the exercise bike....I'm down a total of &amp;nbsp;9.2 pounds. The .2 being very important....I'll take it!!&lt;br /&gt;The best part is.... I haven't removed anything from my diet. I'm just eating it at different times of the day. So....&amp;nbsp;looking at it in that light,&amp;nbsp;a 9lb loss in a month isn't so bad after all....&lt;br /&gt;The weight loss&amp;nbsp;will be&amp;nbsp;rewarding in itself but I'm hoping to grow in other ways as well. I see something I never saw before. Proof I believe,&amp;nbsp;that the Word of God is truly alive, and meets us when and where we need it. Reading this morning I came across Phil 3:13-14&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;" Brothers, I do not as yet consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What struck me this morning were the words "straining toward " and " press on."&amp;nbsp;Words that&amp;nbsp;imply it won't be an easy thing to do.&lt;br /&gt;Paul didn't say I stroll toward what is ahead or cruise toward the goal to win the prize. He's implying that it takes work.&lt;br /&gt;I remember one time back in my motorcycle days on Vancouver Island, I had my Yamaha Venture 1200 out in the back yard getting ready to take it for a run. One of my feet slipped in the gravel and it started to go over, all 700+ pounds of it. Not wanting to scratch the paint on it, I strained with everything I had to get it back upright. I did manage to do it, but I had to go sit down for 20 minutes afterward because my legs were shaking so badly. It literally took everything I had out of me to do it...I&amp;nbsp;learned the meaning of straining that day!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It takes a great deal of effort also, for me to break free from the sinful nature I was born with, and to follow in the way the LORD would have me go. It's not a "cake walk". It's hard work. I'm thankful I have a God who will give me a hand to press on though. He promises me so&amp;nbsp;in Isaiah 41:10...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;" So, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. It's hard to keep a subject like thankfulness&amp;nbsp;simple.&amp;nbsp;Being thankful isn't always easy, but it's always nescessary. God's word says;&lt;br /&gt;"&amp;nbsp;Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." I Thess 5:18.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That's a pretty tall order.&amp;nbsp; Give thanks in all circumstances. How do the victims of the earthquake in Haiti give thanks? How does a woman just receiving word she has breast cancer again, give thanks? How does someone who's just lost a loved one give thanks? Someone who's lost a job? Or, lost their home in a fire?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;We know&amp;nbsp;God always has purpose in everything He does. He doesn't waste anything. He's perfect in all His ways. Trials and hardships, if nothing else, give us opportunity to draw nearer to God the Father. A chance to crawl up on His knee and let Him wrap His loving arms around us. We can always be thankful that God is faithful and trustworthy, no matter what. The trial&amp;nbsp;will not be pleasant but drawing nearer to God is always rewarding. "Come near to God and He will come near to you..." James 4:8 &lt;br /&gt;There's a lot that could be said about this subject, but I believe it really boils down to us making the proper choice.&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;Choosing to be thankful will give us a positive outlook, letting us rise above our circumstance, giving us greater vision of what's happening.&amp;nbsp;A negative, ungrateful attitude can only bring negativity, bitterness, self pity and possibly depression.&lt;br /&gt;I believe the former to be the better, though much&amp;nbsp;more difficult&amp;nbsp;choice. LORD,&amp;nbsp;help me to remember to choose to be thankful in all circumstances.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;" Gratitude is the attitude that sets the altitude for living".... James MacDonald. An allusive but&amp;nbsp;worthy goal&amp;nbsp; to shoot for....&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;" Let the&amp;nbsp;peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. Discouragement</title><content type='html'>Well ....week three weigh in produced very little weight loss, and much discouragement. A whopping half a pound loss this week. Yeah... that's right, reduced food intake plus daily exercise routine produces .5 a pound weight loss. How is that even possible?? I don't know. &lt;br /&gt;I've been told.... maybe you're building muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat.&amp;nbsp;Maybe... but I don't buy it ...&amp;nbsp;AND ... who wants a big belly full of muscle anyway!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Discouragement is a tool&amp;nbsp;I believe satan loves to use to keep&amp;nbsp;me imprisoned where he wants me. He knows I don't feel good about myself when I'm overweight. If I'm not feeling good about myself, then&amp;nbsp;it's harder for me to feel good about anything else too. Subsequently I eat more, gain more, feel worse&amp;nbsp;and the cycle continues...&lt;br /&gt;Now.... I'm not saying that everyone who needs to lose weight&amp;nbsp; has a spiritual battle to fight. What I'm saying is that satan would love to&amp;nbsp;use this discouragement against me, if I let him. So... in my case it is going to be a spiritual battle as well as a phyiscal one.&lt;br /&gt;I'll definitely need something to hang onto this week as I continue. I'll go with this...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."&amp;nbsp; Joshua 1:9&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This&amp;nbsp;is what the LORD told Joshua before he led the Israelites into the promised land, and the subsequent battles they would face possessing that land.The LORD proved Himself&amp;nbsp;faithful to His word then, and He'll do the same today.&lt;br /&gt;Losing weight&amp;nbsp;is going to be a series of battles for me also. It's not going to be easy possessing the "New me".&amp;nbsp;The LORD&amp;nbsp;doesn't&amp;nbsp;suggest&amp;nbsp;that I&amp;nbsp;be strong or courageous, and&amp;nbsp;not be discouraged. He&amp;nbsp;commands&amp;nbsp;it!&lt;br /&gt;So... I will keep going in His strength. He promises to go with me. I will not give in to discouragement. The subject of the first lesson was............. "Complaining"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My notes are scanty and memory even worse, but I'll&amp;nbsp;jot down what I can remember, before I forget it... &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;One quote that I remember went something like this: " If murmuring is your lifestyle, then the wilderness will be your home".&lt;br /&gt;Complaining is sin: &lt;br /&gt;Spoken or unspoken. We can hold our tongue and say nothing, but still complain in our hearts. God looks at the heart.&lt;br /&gt;God hears our complaining: &lt;br /&gt;"How long will this wicked nation complain about me. I have heard everything the Israelites have been saying" Numbers 14:27&lt;br /&gt;God hates our complaining: &lt;br /&gt;" Moses heard all the families standing in front of their tents weeping, and the LORD became very angry. Moses also was very aggravated." Numbers 11:10&lt;br /&gt;God judges our complaining:&lt;br /&gt;After Moses had interceded for the Israelites, the Lord decided against destroying them all outright and starting over. &lt;br /&gt;Instead He told them, " You will all die here in the wilderness! Because you have complained against me, none of you who are 20 years old or older, or were counted in the census will enter the land I swore to give you." Numbers 14: 29-30.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;Complaining and unbelief, cost a whole generation of Israelites, very dearly. They never got to see the promised land that God said was their's for the taking. &lt;br /&gt;I can be&amp;nbsp;a complainer too. I'm no different then the Israelites. Time after time, blessing after blessing, I never seem to be satisfied for very long. Instead of seeing what the LORD has provided already, I always seem to focus on what I don't have, or&amp;nbsp;what I think I need.&amp;nbsp;Complaining robs me of Joy, leaving me in a "wilderness" of unhappiness and unthankfulness. After all, how can I be happy if I'm not content or satisfied? It might be time for me&amp;nbsp;to think twice before complaining, there's a lot at stake it seems...wildernesses are generally not very favorable places... " Do everything without complaining or arguing "&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Philippians 2:14&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;Father God, please forgive my selfish complaining attitude. Help me to focus on&amp;nbsp;You and&amp;nbsp;Your&amp;nbsp;more than ample provision, not on my childish, selfish wants. Help me to especially remember your Son Jesus, who died a horrible death on my account and never complained at all... I didn't have an answer, but I knew I would need to settle it, at least in my own mind.&amp;nbsp; It's a tough&amp;nbsp;one. I like to keep things simple so I won't go into all the discussion this question raised in our&amp;nbsp;small group. No matter how we looked at it, it&amp;nbsp;seems to be a question that only eternity and God can reveal.&lt;br /&gt;I got up this morning and googled the question and&amp;nbsp;through that process came across another blog which pointed me in the direction of Romans chapter 9. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Romans 9&amp;nbsp;puts it to rest&amp;nbsp;for me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It falls under the Sovereign freedom of God to do as He pleases, with whom He pleases, and it's not for us to question why. I know, that's not an answer many will accept.&lt;br /&gt;It's a question we really have no business asking because in essence it tries to make God accountable to man. God doesn't answer to us. We answer to Him.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"But who are you,&amp;nbsp;O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to Him who formed it, "Why did you make me like this?" Does not the potter have the right to make&amp;nbsp;out of&amp;nbsp;the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?" Romans 9 : 20-21&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Paul isn't saying we shouldn't ever&amp;nbsp;ask&amp;nbsp;God why. He's speaking to the people who would question with a God-defying attitude trying to make Him answerable to man.Those who would try&amp;nbsp;to bring God down to our level where He can be understood, undermining His character and Sovereignty.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is a question that can be debated till all involved are literally blue in the face. I'm a simple man who needs simple answers. We know God to be Perfect, Holy and Just. For me, it will fall under God's Sovereign freedom to do as He pleases. He is perfect in nature and therefore makes no mistakes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He." Deuteronomy 32:4&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;".....Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?" After keeping with the plan and even having a 36 hour flu bug and missing a few meals, I dropped the sum total of ONE pound!&lt;br /&gt;However I'll look at it this way. I've lost 6 pounds in total over the first two weeks. That sounds better. The important thing is to not get discouraged, but keep going forward. Only 69 lbs more to go!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As Christians our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, so I will hold on to this verse this week.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;" David also said to Solomon his son. " Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. I found it to be quite challenging.&amp;nbsp; Some questions&amp;nbsp;I was&amp;nbsp;left&amp;nbsp;asking myself...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Do I&amp;nbsp;want to learn of Jesus's teachings so bad that's all I can think about? Do I wake up in the morning and Jesus is the first thing on my mind? Do I run to my Bible and read incessantly trying to glean every bit of wisdom from what He had to say in His word? Do I model my life after His example?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How about&amp;nbsp;His compassion and&amp;nbsp;His love for others? He'd sit down to eat with anyone, even all the undesirables of society. Could I do that? What about His humility? Always putting other's needs first. Then there's the total forgiveness He extended to everyone, especially those who were murdering Him on the cross! "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." Could I do that?&lt;br /&gt;Do I value the things of this world more than the things of His world? Am I willing to sacrifice my comfort to&amp;nbsp;accomplish His will for my life? &lt;br /&gt;Am I willing to die to do His will? He gave up His life&amp;nbsp;for all of us! Could I&amp;nbsp;give up&amp;nbsp;my life for anyone? How would I do with people slapping me in the face or spitting on me? What about being falsely accused and laughed at?&amp;nbsp;How about being tied to a whipping post and having the flesh whipped off my body? What about having a crown of thorns jammed onto my head? How about handfuls of my beard ripped out?&amp;nbsp;Spikes driven through my hands and feet? Could I do a 40 day fast in the wilderness? Would I like to be thrown into prison? How would I like to be totally abandoned by my friends in my time of greatest need? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I don't think I'd make a very good "disciple" in the true sense of the word. Oh ... I go to church on Sunday and attend a couple small groups through the week, but&amp;nbsp;I have to admit that being a true disciple of Jesus is not for the faint of heart. It's not anything I could do in my own strength that's for certain.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;But&amp;nbsp;you know what? I believe&amp;nbsp;He'd help me if I had the guts to try... The reports are still coming in after a massive 7.0 earthquake and looking grim all around. Some reports of possibly thousands dead. Collateral damage everywhere.&lt;br /&gt;There is a missionary organization there with connections to our home church&amp;nbsp;Auburn Bible Chapel,&amp;nbsp;through&amp;nbsp;the Rodin family&amp;nbsp;here in Peterborough called Seeds of&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;Hope. Please support them if you can.&amp;nbsp;Even a&amp;nbsp;small amount will help.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Father I pray for the people in Haiti whose situation I'm sure is desperate in many circumstances. I pray that relief efforts will not be in vain or hindered in any way. I pray that You will make a way, where there is no way. That people get help and provisions as soon as humanly possible. I pray that much attention will come to this tiny nation&amp;nbsp;concerning its poverty and the aids epidemic that has ravaged the country. I pray that the forces of evil eveloping this nation(voodoo) be broken and be replaced by the saving Grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. I pray that many will call on Jesus' name in this time of tragedy, and see much tangible evidence of His wonderful, loving, caring &amp;nbsp;power and&amp;nbsp;come to a &amp;nbsp;saving knowledge of Him. &lt;br /&gt;I&amp;nbsp;don't question why Father. It's futile to do so.We know there is purpose in all things. We know you have allowed this to happen for some reason. Your ways are above and beyond ours. We probably wouldn't understand anyway if you did tell us why...&lt;br /&gt;I just lift these people up to you now LORD. Many will be hurting with broken bones and in pain. Many have lost loved ones and have broken hearts. I'm happy to report I have only 70 more pounds to go! I'm sticking to the plan! I don't want it to be a diet because they never work. I want&amp;nbsp;to change the way I "do" food so it'll be a lasting change.&lt;br /&gt;It's a simple plan, 20-25 minutes a day on the exercise bike. Smaller portions at meal times. No eating after dinner in the evening. &lt;br /&gt;I'm not cutting anything out of my diet.&amp;nbsp; Just eating less of it, and at better times during the day.&amp;nbsp;So far so good!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I've had some help though ....which I couldn't do without. " I lift my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from?&lt;br /&gt;My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth." Today's trouble is enough for today" Matt 6:34&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I wonder what life would look like if we lived that way? Shutting the door to the past and future and just living the day that's set before us. Living life in one day compartments.Matt 6:27&amp;nbsp;says, " Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm reminded of the children of Israel in the wilderness when they gathered manna each day. They were only to gather enough for each day, any extra would go rotten. The LORD was teaching them that he was their provider, and that He could be trusted.&amp;nbsp;Or how He fed Elijah in the wilderness causing ravens to bring him food. Or how the widow's jar of&amp;nbsp;flour and jug of oil&amp;nbsp;miraculously kept producing during a time of drought. He's the same God for us today.&lt;br /&gt;So, why do we strive and worry and fret about tomorrow when God has proven himself faithful over and over again?&lt;br /&gt;I believe it comes back to giving control of our lives over to the one who knows us far better than we know ourselves.&amp;nbsp;It comes back to unbelief.&amp;nbsp;God created us for purpose. " The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A shepherd protects and provides for his flock. He also retrieves and cares for the lost. If the God of the universe is providing for me, I should probably be satisfied with what I have. &lt;br /&gt;If he is protecting me and has my best interest at heart I should have no worries either. The same Lord that King David wrote this psalm&amp;nbsp;about is the same Lord that looks out for us. Can it really be that simple?&amp;nbsp;I believe it can.&lt;br /&gt;We only need to trust the Lord our shepherd. Is&amp;nbsp;that easy to do? No, because it's not easy for us to&amp;nbsp;give up&amp;nbsp;the&amp;nbsp;control we think we have over our lives, to trust&amp;nbsp;the Lord's&amp;nbsp;omniscience. Is it necessary that we do it? Absolutely!&lt;br /&gt;Will I worry again? Probably. Will I complain again? No doubt before the night is out! A little about myself....&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm 51 years old. I'm married to an amazing, beautiful, God loving woman. I have 5 children. 7 grand children. I was born in Ottawa, raised in Nova Scotia, and have spent 13 years living on the west coast on Vancouver Island.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I've worked in Logging, manufacturing, retail, and mining and hold&amp;nbsp;journeyman mechanic&amp;nbsp;trade qualifications in heavy equipment.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I enjoy outdoor things like boating, camping, fishing and hunting on rare occasions. Not so much hunting anymore but, that could change!&amp;nbsp;I like trucks. Love our Avalanche. Trips to Florida... the East and West coasts of Canada. I like dogs. We have two very "vicious" shih-tzu boys. They're our babies.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I now reside in Peterborough Ontario where I work part time through a Community Care program in the city. The goal is to help seniors stay in their own homes by doing small jobs for them at reasonable rates. I've had a few vocations, this one has brought me the least money but the&amp;nbsp;most satisfaction.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am not a religious person. Religion seems to envelope anything and everything today.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I believe in the one true&amp;nbsp;God of creation. Revealed&amp;nbsp;as three persons. God the Father, God the Son(Jesus), God the Holy Spirit. I believe the Bible to be the infallible Word of God. The Bible says every person is separated from&amp;nbsp;Gods Holy nature&amp;nbsp;by our sinful nature, and we're in need of a Savior for reconcililation to our Creator. I believe in Jesus Christ, His Son.... in His death, burial and resurrection. I believe Jesus died, was buried and 3 days later rose from the dead giving me assurance of my own resurrection to eternal life one day. I believe Jesus paid my sin debt in full with His death on the cross at Calvary, and because of His sacrifice for me there, and the belief and trust that I have placed in Him, I have the forgiveness of sin He offers when we repent of our sin. I have a glorious home in heaven for all of eternity, and a growing relationship with Him right now.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son. That whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life". John 3:16&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The "whosoever" includes you too! All that is needed is for you to acknowledge your need of a Savior. Invite Jesus to come into your heart and make the changes He needs to make....He'll do the rest!&amp;nbsp;He'll give you His power to make the changes needed. The thief who died alongside Jesus simply said " LORD remember me when you come into your Kingdom"&amp;nbsp; Jesus responded by saying "Today you will be with me in paradise" &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He simply recognized who Jesus was and believed. It's that simple! Jesus will meet you wherever you are. Doesn't matter what you've done.&amp;nbsp;You don't need to "clean up" first. He'll take care of&amp;nbsp;all that. He loves you!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In 2005 I had a very real and personal experience with God. It was an experience I will never forget and I will never be the same again for having it.&lt;br /&gt;I've had my share of alcohol and drugs in the past. I can honestly say, having had this encounter with God, there is no high like the ..... Most High!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you could harness the sun and stuff it inside your chest... that, in a small way, would begin to describe what I experienced. Only the sun's light wouldn't be as white!&lt;br /&gt;If you could stand under Niagara falls and feel the force of the water coming down on you, that would begin to describe in a small way the powerful love I felt poured out on me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I know for certain that God exists and He's an awesome God who loves us, and has our best interest at heart! I stepped on the scales the other day and I figure I'm at least 75lbs overweight... Yipppee for me!&lt;br /&gt;Now I get to take it off .... one pound at a time. My game plan is simple.... Quit stuffing my face and exercise!&lt;br /&gt;Eat proper size portions and do at least 20-25 mins on the exercise bike each day. Also NO eating after 6:30 pm period.
